I'm joining in the freeze yer buns challenge going on over at Crunchy Chicken's blog. Check it out. One reason, is because I do think we need to work on decreasing our consumption of fossil fuels. And two, because gas prices are outrageous! I'm hoping this helps the environment and my pocket book.
Last year, my budget bill with Vectren was $222. They've recalculated it this year, and it's up to $315!!! That's with a new furnace, insulation, and windows. I can't imagine how crazy the gas bill is for folks who live in older, poorly insulated homes with 20 yr old furnaces. What's the highest gas bill you've been stuck with?
We've got the thermostat turned down to 66 during the day, and 64 at night. Not incredibly low, but hopefully, enough to make a difference. Last year, we kept the heat on 68, so I'm hoping dropping just a couple degrees will be tolerable. Of course, this means we'll have to keep the kids in their jammies at night and make them get dressed in the morning. What is it with kids running around in their undies anyway?
