Peek A Boo

Checking out the bottom of the exer*saucer.
Why? Because I dropped my puffs down here!

(sorry for the poor picture quality. i am a slacker photographer too.)

Slacker

That's me. The blogger slacker. Well, that's not me up there. That's my hubby and my baby girl.

I worked several days in a row. Then I had a paper I had to write for school. Then I had to catch up on the shows recorded on the DVR, watch a couple Net*flix movies, clean the house, do the laundry, try out some new recipes. Oh, and I sorted through the older boys' clothes. So yeah, I've been a little busy.

Today, we went to Lowe's where I purchased some seeds and plants for the garden because I was under the delusion that I could just walk out back and plop them in the yard. Uh yeah, then I went out there today. Now, maybe it's just me, but I could have sworn it was just 30 degrees a week or so ago. Where in the world did all the weeds come from?

Oh, that's right. It rained, and rained, and rained. And just about the time everyone thought they would need machetes to dig out of the jungle formerly known as the "the yard", the rain stopped. And the sun came out. And it got pretty, freakin hot. I actually caught my husband turning the AC on. IN APRIL!!! Anyway, the point I'm trying to make is, I didn't just plop the seeds down out back.

I did do some hoeing out there though. The kind you do with a garden implement, I mean. I think I might actually have one row weed free. And tomorrow it's supposed to cool off a little. And then it's supposed to.....rain, and rain, and rain. What the devil?

Hopefully, I will at least be able to get the plants in the ground before the rainstorms return. Forget the seeds.

On another note, I was down another pound and half last week. So I am now 176 working towards my second goal of 164. Why 164 you ask? Well, because

  1. It is the 15 pounds after my first goal

  2. It is under my pre Tatum weight of 165

  3. And it is around about what I weighed after my last diet almost 5 years ago. The one I started before I got pregnant, again.
Now, on to the baby pictures.

My cutie patootie, who apparently, doesn't nap enough.

Click on over to Aunt Krista's blog for some of Teagan's antics.
Seriously, where does he get this stuff from?

Week 6 weigh in

Surprisingly, after the chocolate overload, AKA Easter, I am down another 1.5 pounds. I am currently at 177.5, which feels pretty darn good actually. I haven't been in the 170's since, well, how old is Teagan? Over 4 1/2 years!!!

The annoying part is, I was so unhappy with my weight, but I didn't do anything about it. It was always, well, I'll start on Monday. Or after I drink all the Pepsi, or after Girl Scout cookie season. While I always had an excuse, it was really just laziness.

After seeing how easy it has been to start losing weight with just modifying my diet, I keep thinking, why the heck did I put it off?

Anyway, I hope the trend continues. I've had a few moments of really, really wanting to eat junk, but, so far I have resisted the temptation to completely throw in the towel. I'm hoping to kick up my exercise routine a bit. So far, I've just been walking. And eat more fruit!!! I think that's the hardest part for me, getting the fruits and veggies in.

I found some yummy sounding WW recipes that I'm planning to try out this week, so I'll keep you posted.

Lost and Found

So Tess is getting pretty speedy with the Army crawl.

Last night, she was under the coffee table when I went to the kitchen to get a drink.

When I came back, she had disappeared.

Under the couch. (Ignore the straggly threads on the settee. Chewie is not declawed and thinks that is his scratching post.)

Going purple

For Maddie.

I first read about little Madeline last week. She was a preemie, born 11 weeks early. She survived 68 days in the NICU but died unexpectedly last week at almost 17 months old.

If you are able, please donate to the March of Dimes to help save babies like Maddie.

Easter (and other updates)

Today was a busy day. The kids bugged us all morning about decorating eggs. The rest of the family was coming over for lunch so we had to finish up the desserts, but we did eventually get to the eggs. I opted for sponge dye this year, thinking it would be less messy. Not so.
Everyone had stained fingers by the time we were done.
After lunch, we had our annual Easter egg hunt in the backyard. Thankfully, it hasn't rained recently, and was fairly warm. Ok, more like not freezing cold. Tess sat this one out and just observed from Daddy's lap.
Out the door and ready to go. Tanner was the assistant egg hider again this year. Twelve is a bit too told to hunt for Easter eggs, don't you know?
Teagan was super excited to find eggs.
Cousin Braeden came over to hunt eggs too.
That's no egg. It's a chocolate bunny.
Tatum and Travis were hunting eggs too, they just ran a little too fast for me to snap pics of them.
It's the Easter Bunny!!!
Not really. That's just Cotton AKA Bunny AKA Snowball, depending on which kid you ask.
Checking out the stash.

Tess entertained everyone with her antics.
"Why yes, that is slobber on my shirt. That's because I love to do this."
Blowing raspberries is her passion. She lives for it. That and squealing. She particularly enjoys it if someone squeals back. Fake coughing is also fun.
She is an 8 month old now.
Still toothless, though she can put away some green beans and corn. She's mastered the army crawl and has decided inching forward on her belly is much preferable to crawling on her hands and knees. She, dare I say it out loud, slept through the night last night. From 9 pm until almost 8 am. What bliss. I'm pretty sure it was a fluke and won't happen again, but wouldn't it be grand?
In other news, I am down another pound so I've hit my first goal of 10 pounds! Woohoo! Not real sure what effect Easter might play on that though. I guess we'll find out next week if the chocolate eggs, jelly beans, and cherry cheesecake were a bit too much.

Sunday night

Nothing much exciting going on. The kids are out for Spring break this week. Unfortunately, I am working right through the middle of the week, so no quickie vacation for us. I am trying to think of something fun to do for at least one day. Any ideas?

I actually start back to school this week. My third quarter begins tomorrow, and I am.... unprepared. I don't have my books yet, because I am a total procrastinator. My pal Missy let me in on a little secret though. I can request books through the hospital's library, FOR FREE! And wouldnt' you know it, all of my books can be requested. That saved me $200. I should take her out for lunch or something. :op

Onto the scale again, this week I am down another 2 pounds. Only 1 pound away from my first goal. It has been surprisingly easy. I guess when you pay attention to what you stuff in your face, you can actually lose a little weight.

That's all the excitement I can dish out for this week, but click on over to my sis's blog. Three of her bloggy buddies have gotten referrals for their new daughters. Well, two will officially get their referrals on Monday since there are some dummy heads working for DHL and their packets went to the wrong addresses. I can't imagine how long this weekend has been for them, but thankfully, TOMORROW IS THE DAY!!! No more waiting. Congrats to them all!

Wisdom

I'm just saying, breastfeeding is not an adequte form of birth control.
It's just one of those things I've learned along the way.
If you read anything into that, then you are the

APRIL FOOL!

In case you were wondering

Breastfeeding should not be considered an adequate form of birth control.

I'm just saying.
